25th Anniversary Celebration

🎉💚 What a fantastic 25th Anniversary Celebration! 💚🎉

On Saturday, 5th September, we were delighted to celebrate 25 years of Letterkenny Community Development Project with our wonderful community at Ballyboe Green Area! 🥳

It was a fantastic afternoon filled with music, laughter, fun and community spirit, with something for everyone to enjoy🎶🎨🎭

From the music and DJ to the bouncy castle, face painting, arts and crafts, fashion show, games, refreshments and our brilliant stilt walkers — there were plenty of smiles and happy faces throughout the afternoon! 💚✨

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped us celebrate. Whether you have been part of Letterkenny CDP for many years or were joining us for the first time, it was wonderful to have you there.

Most importantly, thank you to the people, volunteers, staff, families and wider community who have helped make the past 25 years so special❤️

Letterkenny CDP marked International Overdose Awareness Day on 31th August with Coffee Morning at our office in The Courtyard Shopping Centre.

It was a warm and welcoming morning of conversation, connection and shared information, with time to remember those we have lost, support those affected by overdose and raise awareness around prevention.

On Sunday, 30th August 2026, Letterkenny welcomed runners and families for the Donegal Half Marathon.

Letterkenny CDP was delighted to support the family fun activities, helping to make the day enjoyable for children and families. We were proud to once again be part of this fantastic community event, which has been running in Letterkenny since 2014.

What a day to remember! 🚌🌞 Our Letterkenny CDP team headed out on 17th June for a day of fun, laughter and quality time together, visiting Wild Ireland, Swan Park and Buncrana Beach.

It was a great opportunity to step away from our usual routine, enjoy each other’s company and create some lovely memories together. From exploring Wild Ireland to taking in the beautiful surroundings of Swan Park and Buncrana Beach, there were plenty of smiles along the way.

A big thank you to everyone who made the day so enjoyable. Days like this are a lovely reminder of how important it is to connect, have fun and enjoy time together as a team❤️

Our Men’s Health Day, held on 11 June at Letterkenny CDP, was a positive and informative event focused on health, wellbeing and support for men in our community 💪

Visitors had the opportunity to check their blood pressure and hearing, enjoy holistic treatments, and access valuable health information and support services.

Thank you to everyone who attended, and to all the organisations, therapists and volunteers who helped make the day such a welcoming and successful event!

We look forward to continuing to promote health and wellbeing in our community through events like this 💙

On 21st May, we came together at The Station House Hotel to celebrate Bealtaine, and what a beautiful day it was!

It was so lovely to see everyone enjoying the music, food, dances and all the great craic throughout the day.

A big congratulations to some of our lucky raffle winners as well.

On 19th May, our team had the pleasure of visiting the Rainbow Child and Family Centre in Derry for another lovely afternoon with the wonderful “Golden Girls” from the local community - ladies who continue to stay active, social, and full of life 💛

What originally started as a weight loss support group has since grown into something much more — a warm and welcoming weekly gathering where these ladies come together to enjoy tea, coffee, homemade treats, laughter, conversations, puzzles, and simply spending time with one another.

It’s truly heartwarming to see how important these meetings have become, creating a space filled with friendship, support, joy, and connection. Their energy, positivity, and the way they continue to support one another is genuinely inspiring and a beautiful reminder of how important community and social connection are at every stage of life.

A special thank you to manager Jackie and the group organiser Elaine for such a warm welcome and for creating such a wonderful community space.

This was our second visit, and once again we left with smiles on our faces. We’re already looking forward to visiting again soon 🫶

On 16.04, we were delighted to host our Coffee Morning at The Courtyard Shopping Centre!

It was wonderful to see people come together, enjoy a cuppa and some treats, have a chat, and make new connections in such a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere ✨

From friendly conversations to new faces and plenty of smiles, it was a lovely reminder of how important it is to have spaces where everyone feels welcome 🫶

On 15.04, we were delighted to host our Women’s Health Day at the Letterkenny CDP. It was a lovely afternoon focused on health, wellbeing and support for women in our community.

Visitors had the opportunity to check their blood pressure, blood sugar, hearing and BMI, as well as enjoy holistic therapies and helpful information stands.

On 17th March 2026, we had a lovely afternoon celebrating St. Patrick’s Day together at The Courtyard Shopping Centre.

There was plenty happening throughout the afternoon, including cookie decorating, arts & crafts, face painting, Irish stew and a wonderful performance from Irish dancers 💚

It was great to see so many people come together and enjoy the celebration, with lots of community spirit and a bit of craic!

Afterwards, many headed off to enjoy the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Starting on 9 March and running over 4 weeks, we were delighted to welcome both familiar faces and new participants to our creative space in Letterkenny CDP. Together, we explored traditional basket weaving skills in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Each Monday was filled with creativity, learning, and connection - and it was truly special to see everyone’s confidence grow as their beautiful handmade baskets took shape. Every piece created was unique and a reflection of the care and creativity behind it.

Last week, our 6-week Gentle Yoga course 🧘‍♀️ at Letterkenny CDP came to an end. The sessions were led by Eimeir Peoples, who guided participants through gentle movement, breathing and relaxation practices in a calm and welcoming atmosphere 😌

It was lovely to see people taking time each week to slow down, relax and focus on their wellbeing. The group really enjoyed the sessions and the supportive space created during the course.

A big thank you to Eimeir for sharing her knowledge and creating such a positive experience for everyone involved 🙌

On Saturday, January 31st, 2026, we were delighted to gather at Unit 25, The Courtyard Shopping Centre, Letterkenny for our annual Saint Brigid’s Eve celebration with Letterkenny CDP.

There was a fantastic turnout as friends old and new came together to honour Saint Brigid through the beautiful tradition of cross making. It was wonderful to see so many people getting involved, sharing stories, skills, and laughter throughout the afternoon.

The space was filled with traditional music, singing, and everyone enjoyed some delicious Irish stew as we celebrated culture, friendship, and community together.

A heartfelt thank you to all who helped organise the event and to everyone who joined us and made the day so special.

On Friday, 19th December 2025, the heart of Letterkenny came together to celebrate its much-loved Annual Christmas Carol Trail, now in its 12th year.

Organised by the Letterkenny Chamber of Commerce, Letterkenny Cathedral Quarter, and Letterkenny CDP alongside local churches, the evening began at Trinity Presbyterian Church and continued in a candlelit procession through the town, including stops at St Eunan’s Cathedral, before concluding at Conwal Parish Church.

A beautiful rendition of “O Holy Night” by Jean Curran brought the evening to a moving close, followed by tea and mince pies in the Parish Centre.

Halloween Monster Bash 2025 - What a Spook-tacular Day!

Letterkenny truly came alive this Halloween as ghosts, ghouls, and all sorts of spooky characters took over The Courtyard on Friday, October 31st for our Letterkenny CDP Halloween Monster Bash 2025!

From face painting and photo booths to our fancy dress competition and lively disco, it was a day full of laughter, jumpscares, and plenty of creativity. The atmosphere was electric as families, friends, and local businesses came together to celebrate in true Halloween spirit.

A massive thank you to our incredible Team CDP for all their hard work in making the day such a success - from the House of Frightmares to the festive decorations, every detail helped make it an unforgettable celebration.

We’re also deeply grateful to our wonderful partners and supporters: Letterkenny Chamber of Commerce, The Courtyard Letterkenny, Donegal County Council, DLDC, International Fund for Ireland, An Garda Síochána, Pinehill Studios, and everyone who helped bring some well-deserved fun to the community.

And of course, a huge thank you to everyone who attended, dressed up, and joined in the fun - you made it truly special!

In October 2025, our organization hosted a Gardening Workshop led by Valerie Keeve, bringing together community members of all ages to learn practical techniques for growing healthy plants and creating sustainable outdoor spaces. Participants explored topics such as soil preparation, seasonal planting, and low-maintenance garden care.

The workshop offered hands-on activities, helpful demonstrations, and plenty of opportunities to ask questions. Attendees left with new skills, inspiration, and resources to continue their gardening projects at home.

The event was held with the valued support of the International Fund for Ireland (IFI). We extend our thanks to everyone who joined us and helped make the workshop a success, and we look forward to offering more community learning events in the future.

In September 2025, our organization marked World Suicide Prevention Day with a special event held at our Letterkenny CDP office, focused on raising awareness, reducing stigma, and promoting mental-health support. Participants joined in for informational sessions, shared stories of hope, and learned practical ways to support others who may be struggling.

Mental-health professionals and volunteers were on site to provide guidance and resources. The event emphasized the importance of early intervention, open conversation, and making sure no one feels alone.

We thank everyone who attended and contributed to creating a compassionate and supportive environment. Together, we continue working toward a community where help is accessible and hope is always within reach.

In July 2025, our Letterkenny CDP office hosted a Conflict Mediation Training delivered with the support of the International Fund for Ireland (IFI). The session was led by Caroline Barrett and Michelle Marley and focused on helping participants navigate difficult conversations with greater confidence and clarity.

The training introduced key principles of mediation, including active listening, understanding different perspectives, and guiding disagreements toward positive outcomes. Participants took part in group activities and scenario-based exercises, allowing them to practise new techniques in a supportive environment.

We are grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to a productive and engaging training day, and we thank IFI, Caroline Barrett, and Michelle Marley for their valued support. We look forward to continuing to offer learning opportunities that strengthen communication skills and community relationships.
